In her interview with Today, Hannah Lester states that in college she saw herself as the overweight friend, which she hated.

She didn’t make healthy eating choices back then, which contributed to her weight gain.

The fact that she also worked in a fast food place didn’t help either. Working at the fast food place made it easy for her to live off burgers and fries most days.

HANNAH TURNS HER LIFE AROUND

Eventually what saved Hannah from her unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyle was a weight-loss challenge at her first job after graduating from college.

Hannah states in the interview that the challenge gave her a reason to lose the weight.

Fitness challenges have recently become very popular for that reason, they help motivate an individual to reach a certain fitness goal by challenging them and making them accountable for their actions.

Hannah’s first goal in the fitness challenge was to lose 35 pounds in four months.

Her plan to accomplish that goal was by simply walking more, cutting back on sodas, drinking more water and most important by eliminating all that fast food that she was constantly eating.

CHANGING YOUR MINDSET

Hannah adds in her interview that when she lost her first 10 pounds, something inside of her clicked. She suddenly realized that she could do it.

With that new confidence in herself, she was now more determined to win the fitness challenge. She was so determined that she shed the 35 pounds that she originally committed to in just two months instead of four.

When she reached the 50 pound mark of weight lose, she was even more excited. To stay on track, Hannah became more active by going to the gym and using the stepper. She also began to walk for four miles instead of one and even began to eat more at home.

Hannah is very proud of her accomplishment. Through her journey, she came to realize that she can do anything if she really set her mind to it.

Altogether, Hannah lost 100 pounds in three years. She is happy to report that she has been able to keep the weight off.

Below are three tips that Hannah offers to others who are in the same journey:

  • Don’t throw your old clothes away. Keep your old clothes as a reminder of where you came from. By not throwing her old clothes away, Hannah was able to physically see her achievements and it motivated her not to regain the weight.
  • Don’t depend on the scale. Hannah explains in the interview that the scale almost became her enemy. She felt frustrated when she saw that the number on the scale wasn’t going down. So instead of focusing on the scale, she instead focused on how she felt and how she looked in her new clothes.
  • Goals should be reachable. It can get overwhelming when your weight lose goals are set too high. Hannah for example started small. Her goal in the beginning was to lose 30 lbs. When she accomplished that, she then focused on losing 50 pounds and so on.

CONCLUSION

Reading about ordinary people’s weight lose transformations is so inspiring.

It makes you feel like if they can do it, so can you.

The thing to get out of Hannah’s incredible transformation story is her determination and motivation to get fit.

Hannah was lucky to find that thing that motivated her. In her case, it was the weight-lose challenge that motivated her.

What is that thing that is going to push you to reach your fitness goal?

In my case, it was the desire to be healthy for my new born that motivated me to lose all the weight that I had gained after I had my baby.

And finally start small. Slowly work your way up the ladder. Don’t rush it. One step at a time.

As you start to see results, even if they are small ones, you will start to gain confidence in yourself, and that the new confidence will motivate you to do more.

Remember, if she can do it, so can you.
